Hazmat Routing

This article covers how to ensure that the navigation tool knows you're transporting hazardous materials. When you are transporting hazardous materials (example: flammable materials, explosives, inhalants, etc.) and you let the navigation system know through this setting, it will only route you through areas where it's safe for you and your vehicle to drive.
  1. In Truck Safe Navigation, tap the   button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  2. Tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays. 
  3. Tap the  icon. The Route screen displays. 
  4. Tap the Vehicle Routing Profiles option. The Vehicle Routing Profiles screen displays. 

  1. In the Vehicle Routing Profiles screen, choose your truck type.
  2. After you choose your truck type, you can choose to further configure your vehicle information. To do this, tap the View/Edit button. Additional configuration options for your vehicle display. Please note that depending on the type of vehicle that you choose, the additional options that are available for configuration may vary.

  1. Tap the Hazmat Routing option. When you are transporting hazardous materials (example: flammable materials, explosives, inhalants, etc.) and you let the navigation system know through this setting, it will only route you through areas where it's safe for you and your vehicle to drive. 

  1. From the available options included below, choose the type of hazardous material that you are transporting. 
  • None
  • General
  • Explosives
  • Flammable
  • Inhalants
  • Caustic
  • Radioactive
Hazmat Classes

For reference, here are the different types of hazmat classes:

  • Class 1: Explosives - Explosive
  • Class 2: Compressed Gases
    • Flammable Gas - Flammable
    • Non-Flammable Compressed Gas - Other
    • Poisonous Gas - Inhalant
  • Class 3: Flammable and Combustible Liquid - Flammable
  • Class 4: Flammable Solids
    • Flammable Solid - Flammable
    • Spontaneously Combustible Material - Flammable
    • Dangerous When Wet Material - Other
  • Class 5: Oxidizers - Other
  • Class 6: Poisons
    • (part) Inhalation Hazard - Inhalant
    • (balance) - Other
    • Infectious Substance (Etiologic agent/"biohazard") - Other
  • Class 7: Radioactive Materials - Radioactive
  • Class 8: Corrosive Liquids - Corrosive
  • Class 9: Miscellaneous - Other
