Planning a Route and Navigating

This article covers how to plan a trip and start a route in Truck Safe Navigation.

Planning a Route with an Address

If you know the address for the location where you would like to go, you can plan a route to this address in Truck Safe Navigation. 

  1. Tap the Navigate option. The Navigate screen displays. 
  2. In the Navigate screen, tap the Start button for Truck Safe Navigation. Truck Safe Navigation displays.
  3. Tap the  button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  4. In the Welcome dialog, tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays.

  1. Tap the Address option. The Enter City or Zip Code screen displays.

  1. In the Enter City or Zip Code screen, enter the city or zip code for the city where you would like to navigate. The Enter House Number screen displays.

  1. In the Enter House Number screen, enter the number that is assigned to the location where you would like to navigate. The My Route screen displays, showing an overview of your planned route.

  1. To start navigating to your route, tap the Go button. If you do not like the route that is suggested, tap the Alternate button and additional routes that would take you to your destination display.

Planning a Route with Your Places

If you have existing places set up in Truck Safe Navigation, you can plan routes to these locations. 

  1. Tap the Navigate option. The Navigate screen displays. 
  2. In the Navigate screen, tap the Start button for Truck Safe Navigation. Truck Safe Navigation displays.
  3. Tap the  button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  4. In the Welcome dialog, tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays.

  1. In the Go To screen, tap the My Places option. The My Places screen displays.

  1. From your saved places, choose the saved places that you would like to navigate to. The My Route screen displays, showing your planned route.

  1. To start navigating the route, tap the Go button. If you do not like the route that is suggested, tap the Alternate button and additional routes that would take you to your destination display.

Planning a Route with POIs

You can search for POIs using Truck Safe Navigation's search options. When you find the location (or POI) that you would like to go to by using Truck Safe Navigation's search or built-in search engines, you can navigate to the location. 

  1. Tap the Navigate option. The Navigate screen displays. 
  2. In the Navigate screen, tap the Start button for Truck Safe Navigation. Truck Safe Navigation displays.
  3. Tap the  button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  4. In the Welcome dialog, tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays.

  1. Tap the Points of Interest option. The Find POIs screen displays.

  1. In the Points of Interest screen, search for the place that you would like to navigate to. You can do this in several different ways. You can choose to find a place with Google's search, Wikipedia's search, Yelp's search, and you can also choose to search through all of the locations that Truck Safe Navigation has available already within the ONE20 app.

  1. Choose the POI where you would like to navigate.

  1. To start navigating the route, tap the Go button. If you do not like the route that is suggested, tap the Alternate button and additional routes that would take you to your destination display.

Planning a Route by Browsing the Map

If you know where on the map you would like to go, you can tap the location on the map and Truck Safe Navigation will navigate to that location. 

  1. Tap the Navigate option. The Navigate screen displays. 
  2. In the Navigate screen, tap the Start button for Truck Safe Navigation. Truck Safe Navigation displays.
  3. Tap the  button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  4. In the Welcome dialog, tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays.

  1. Tap the Browse Map option. The Browse Map screen displays.

  1. On the map, tap on the location where you would like to navigate. Information for that location displays.

  1. To start navigating the route, tap the Go button. If you do not like the route that is suggested, tap the Alternate button and additional routes that would take you to your destination display.

Planning a Route with Coordinates

If you know the exact geographic coordinates of the location where you would like to go, you can enter these coordinates into Truck Safe Navigation and it will navigate you to the location. 

  1. Tap the Navigate option. The Navigate screen displays. 
  2. In the Navigate screen, tap the Start button for Truck Safe Navigation. Truck Safe Navigation displays.
  3. Tap the  button. The Welcome dialog displays. 
  4. In the Welcome dialog, tap the Main Menu button. The Go To screen displays.

  1. In the Go To screen, tap the Coordinates option. The Coordinates screen displays.

  1. In the Coordinates screen, choose one of these options:
  • Decimal Degrees: Choose this option if you would like to find a location based on specific degree coordinates. For example, if you have the exact decimal degrees that the location where you would like to navigate to is north, south, east, or west of the equator, you can choose this option to set up your navigation. 
  • Degrees, Minutes, Seconds: Choose this option if you would like to find a location based on the degrees, minutes, and seconds. For example, if you have the exact degrees, minutes, and seconds that the location where you would like to navigate to is north, south, east, or west of the equator, you can choose this option to set up your navigation. 
  • Decimal Minutes: Choose this option if you would like to find a location based on the location's degrees and minutes. For example, if you have the exact degrees and minutes that the location where you would like to navigate to is north, south, east, or west of the equator, you can choose this option to set up your navigation. 

NOTE: For this example, we will use the Decimal Degrees option.

  1. In the Decimal Degrees screen, enter the exact longitude, longitude, and directions (north, south, east, or west) of the location where you would like to navigate.

  1. After the information for the location is entered, tap the Forward Arrow icon. The My Route screen displays, showing an outline of a potential navigation path to your chosen location.

  1. To start navigating to the route, tap the Go button. If you do not like the route that is suggested, tap the Alternate button and additional routes that would take you to your destination display.
